As of October 3, 2016, Burn the Floor, Diversity in Dance, amended their name to what is now known as “DFy Studio, DEFY YOUR DANCE” and in 2018 proudly transitioned to a company known as “THE DFY PROJECT.” We have celebrated a OVER decade of professional dance instruction here in Dickinson, ND and have accomplished things that make us beyond proud. We work very hard to teach and instill the true meaning of the art of dance into every student that attends our studio. Unlike the other studios, we DO NOT put all our focus on competitions, nor the mis-teachings that trophies determine a dancer’s worth or their success. DFy Studio instills that dance is an art and that it comes from only one place…the heart. So, you won’t find all the listings of every competition we’ve been to and how well we’ve done; you won’t find pictures plastered all over of us with our many trophies; and you most certainly won’t find any bragging rights because we don’t need any. We teach the importance and necessity of the “golden rule,” and that in order to dance with us, this rule cannot be overlooked because how we treat one another DOES determine your worth and DOES exemplify who you are and who you will become. The greatest thing about dance in Dickinson, ND is that our instructor believes in being genuine and never having to conform to what everyone else deems as dance, when all you see is the same thing over and over again….somewhere the creativity has been lost and conformity became the new cool thing. Well not here. Unfortunately or fortunately, however you look at it, imitation to me is NOT the most sincere form of flattery. We strive to DEFY THE ODDS, DEFY YOUR DANCE!
“To live a life of gratitude is to open our eyes to the countless ways in which we are supported by the world around us. Such a life provides less space for our suffering because our attention is more balanced. We are more often occupied with noticing what we are given, thanking those who have helped us, forgiving those who have hurt us along the way, and repaying the world in some concrete way for what we are receiving.”
